Consistent and fast temperature readings. Basically a waterproof probe. There is a crimp on the wire insulation to prevent liquids from penetrating the probe. The only drawback is that it cannot be calibrated. It was 4 degrees Fahrenheit in boiling water, but you can't test below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, so it's impossible to tell how different it is in ice water.
