So here is my pen story. When I got 2 cats a year and a half ago I used the typical clumping clay waste. It handled the smell well, but I walked through a lot of junk and wasted a lot of money, not to mention the dust, stains, and toxins in the clumps of clay of the junk. After a month I realized I had to move on to something else! My next try was Yesterday's News, which I used most of the time I was with my cats. Overall I was happy with this pen - it's a lot cheaper, not itchy at all, no dust (and it's made from recycled newspaper so it's a natural product) but the odor control wasn't great (I still think everyone should try this pen). , because I think it might work better for other people). Over time, I realized that I needed to change my filling system again. I then switched to pine pellets, which I obtained from Tractor Supply Company and a Tidy Cat Breeze (sieve) fill system. This is the cheapest litter yet ($6 for Β£40 - one bag lasted me 3 months with 2 cats). Pretty good tracking control and non-toxicity (hooray!). I was very happy with it, but again I couldn't control the smell very well - rubbing it twice a day would have made my eyes sting from the ammonia. I was surprised by this as most people say it does a great job in smelling - not to me! I started to wonder if there was something wrong with my cat's health because the smell was so bad. My partner is also allergic to pine, so it's difficult to stick with that option. After the pouch ran out, I decided again that I needed to change the filler. Now for the present. I decided to try this litter. I was initially hesitant because of the price (spending $6 for 3 months makes a big difference) but I figured if it helps with odor control then it's worth it. After opening the bag, I was immediately drawn to the smell, and after the cat's first trip to a smaller box and subsequent trips, I was pleasantly surprised - there is NO SMELL. And when I went to the shovel at the end of the day - NO SMELL, NO LANGUAGE OF THE EYES. AFTER ALL! My best description of this litter when scooping is that it's a bit like wet beach sand - very easy to scoop up, doesn't require much effort and seems to absorb well. This spatula wobbles (clumps) a bit, but not to the point where I find it like clumpy clay spatula all over the house and on my bed. In any case, I'd rather vacuum a little more each time I clean the smaller box than have my eyes sting. Also, it doesn't throw away as much litter every time I pick it up as with other clumping litters. I hope the bag lasts a while so I won't end up spending a fortune on junk and upgrade once I get to that point! So far I can definitely recommend this fountain pen!
