I wanted a portable, reliable, quality, fast and powerful tire inflator. This product has all of these qualities to the fullest! That's probably a lot more compressor than I need for my three passenger cars: a small commuter, a minivan, and a large van. This seemingly robust product comes with a quality carrying/storage case. Inflates quickly! Do not move away from this product while using it (there is no automatic shut-off, and again with normal sized car tires this quickly builds up pressure). It also runs surprisingly quiet compared to the cheap pump I bought from Lowe's (two of which have broken in so many years, leading me to look for a quality product). This is a 4.5 star product, but I made a conscious choice not to round up to 5 stars as there are a few design flaws that should be ironed out: 1) The included 25ft extension hose actually only lasts for about 12 feet working distance (i.e. for people working alone). It will be inconvenient for you to pull the spool all the way out. Even if you tried, the tension would cause the portable compressor to drag across the floor. You can increase the distance with a second person - one holds and operates the compressor and the other attaches the tire clamp and reads the pressure gauge (while holding the coil to de-energize the tire valve). I understand these coiled hoses are designed for this type of job, but ideally the power cord, the coiled hose itself, or both should be longer. The simplest solution would be to double the length of the power cord - it's not bulky and the case easily fits the extra length. The current design can't go from my big van's battery to the opposite rear wheel. Another reviewer suggested an ingenious solution to using patch cords to increase the working distance of a portable compressor - it was a brilliant suggestion that worked great for me! a little deep. What I mean is that the tire valve needs to be inserted far enough into the cartridge for it to properly engage and allow air to flow through. I bought this particular Viair model in large part because I need a chuck, not a threaded connection. Unfortunately, my van has chrome valve stems (see picture) that are beveled just enough that I can't insert the tire clip far enough to lock them properly. My solution was to buy an adapter (Fafada® Motorcycle Motorbike Tire Valve Extension Auto Bike 2pcs/pair (90 degrees)), but that means I'm back to a threaded connection. Too bad - it seems like inserting the entire threaded portion of the Schrader valve into the tire liner is sufficient, but it isn't. 3) To get an accurate tire pressure reading, the compressor must be off. The power switch is of course on the compressor, but the pressure gauge is far behind the tire. The entire 25-foot coil is under the same pressure as the tire. It would make more sense to install a pressure gauge at the end of the coil that attaches to the compressor (where the switch is located). This improves control and simplifies monitoring. A longer hose or power cord as described above will eliminate this problem. The above three cons are the difference between a superior product and a perfect product. While they prevent me from giving a perfect 5 star rating, they shouldn't put anyone off buying this excellent portable compressor.
