GM technology. I finally got the chance to use this for cam and lifter work on a 6.0 liter Silverado. As you can see, the kit contains 4 different threaded rods with different thread pitches for different crankshafts. Only one doesn't have a hex head to tighten it into the crankshaft and of course it's the one for the LS engines (which is why I bought it and what I most likely use it for). No big deal, it's a square drive and I tightened it with an adjustable wrench. Next you need to install the lock nut and turn the lock nut to push on the balancer. The balancers are pretty deep so I had to use an angled wrench to turn the nut to push it down. worked fine The official GM special tool has a long barrel that allows the same locknut to be pulled further back for easier access. We had one in my shop but it has been missing for quite some time. Everyone just hammers the balancers onto the crank nose, installs the crank bolt and drives it home with a bang, and although I did it I know that one day the crank threads won't hold. This tool eliminates those worries and can't beat the price. It turns out only 4 * BC. I used the official GM special tool and it's a little easier to use and even without the Allen key for the LS threaded rod. good tool. Buy it.
