Review on Long Black Veil Chieftains by Paige Havens

My husband and I love leaders. We never miss the opportunity to see them in concert. But I was hesitant to buy this CD because it really expands the meaning of "Celtic Music". I just couldn't imagine how a cast of guest pop singers (as diverse as Sting, Willie Nelson, Tom Jones, Mick Jagger, Van Morrison and Sinead O'Connor, among others) could create the right "vibe". to Celtic music. But the vocals fit perfectly with the Chieftans' unique delivery of the songs, creating a CD that is fresh, new and always surprising. (Mick Jagger singing the title track "The Long Black Veil" is a prime example of this.) I'm so glad we took the risk of making this CD. It has become one of our absolute favourites.
