Long Black Veil Chieftains Review

Good work from the Leaders. The cover of the album's song of the same name is particularly good. In my opinion it equals or surpasses the most famous Johnny Cash version of the song on the Folsum Prison album.

i like irish songs. The Foggy Dew, The Long Black Veil and Mo Ghile Mear, Rocky Road to Dublin with the Stones are all great, but I find the other non-Irish songs a bit boring to play. Just my opinion of course.

Sinead O'Connor's voice in Foggy Dew is incredibly haunting and beautiful. Rocky Road to Dublin with the Rolling Stones is upbeat, upbeat music. Sting's vocals on the opening track are great. Change in your Demeanor is my favorite track on the CD. The mix of rock and pop stars with traditional Irish music performed by the Chiefs works brilliantly on this CD. I have given this CD to many of my friends. I couldn't imagine St. Patrick's Day without him.

My husband and I love leaders. We never miss the opportunity to see them in concert. But I was hesitant to buy this CD because it really expands the meaning of "Celtic Music". I just couldn't imagine how a cast of guest pop singers (as diverse as Sting, Willie Nelson, Tom Jones, Mick Jagger, Van Morrison and Sinead O'Connor, among others) could create the right "vibe". to Celtic music. But the vocals fit perfectly with the Chieftans' unique delivery of the songs, creating a CD that is fresh…

This album is very different from what the Chieftains have previously released. However, having matured and matured in Irish traditional music and now getting older, I have to say that sometimes I need to listen and play something different! Instrumentally, The Chieftains are in their usual heyday. I loved the arrangements and the effort the guests put into this performance. Hearing other artists perform in their own style while keeping the Celtic spirit alive was inspiring and exciting for me.
