Purchased to replace the ignition switch on a '63 Ranchero. The switch works fine. The OEM connector connects seamlessly to the additional connector on the switch. In later years an extra terminal was used for something, but in '63 it's just an extra tab. Just to give you a good overview, here's how. Early ignition switch Fords have a frame in the dash that holds the shift/lock cylinder against the dash. The bezel (shiny ring labeled ACC/OFF/RUN/START) is rotated about 1/4 turn and removed. Not tight (usually). Since good wire runs through the switch, before changing the ignition switch, disconnect the battery first. Don't blame me if your wiring harness burned out because the wires touched the dash. Here's the trick: Reach behind the dash and hold the ignition switch with your left hand. Push/pull the switch towards the seat. Take the bezel with your right hand and turn it counterclockwise. The key cylinder and the switch leave the firewall. You can now see the small 3/8 inch nut that secures the connector to the switch. Unplug and disconnect the switch from the lock cylinder. Install the new switch on the back of the lock cylinder. Connect the connector to the new switch and reinstall the nut. Tighten the new ring, reinsert into the dashboard, pull/push towards the seat, insert into the bezel and turn clockwise 1/4 turn to lock. Release the switch and rotate it slightly. back and forth so that it fits into the small notch in the aperture opening. Reconnect the battery and start it.
