This is a great digital camera. I have a Nikon D80 and wanted to buy my wife a DSLR as she is interested in photography. This camera is slightly smaller and very easy to use. We particularly like the on-screen programming on the back of the camera. The D3000 doesn't have live view, but that doesn't matter because when you're taking real photos you want to be using the viewfinder, not live view. Image quality is very good and very comparable to the D80. We love the ease of use and the best part is that the lenses are interchangeable so we didn't have to go out and shell out $1,000 for a new lens. If you are really looking for a great camera that will suit most hobbyists or semi-professionals then this is a great camera. It takes great pictures, is easy to use and very fast. Its size makes it really easy to carry around. The battery life is incredible, over 600 outdoor shots. I actually use it more than my D80 if I'm just walking and shooting.
