I had a similar finish to the BuildTak that came with my Wanhao Di3+ clone. It worked well for PLA, but PETG didn't want to stick with it as well. So I ordered a silicone gasket, a square of borosilicate glass, and this PEI sheet. I tore off the old printing surface and then put in a silicone pad, glass and PEI sheet. Before I start heating the platform before each print, I wipe down the PEI sheet with 99% isopropanol. PETG (which I mostly print with) works well (sometimes too well) for this. My prints need a thin spatula to remove them after printing/cooling, but I've never had to struggle with the bed to remove them from PEI. I've read that PEI works best when heated so those of you who print on it might not be useful, but it definitely solved my PETG adhesion issues (and PLA still prints great on it). -know- you have a flat level bed underneath) you can use a high grit sandpaper to sand it down a bit. You can also use acetone (do not use nail polish remover - it contains other substances) - from time to time - to restore adhesion; Don't use it frequently, because if used frequently, it may damage the material. Be careful when attaching the plate (3M glue is a bit delicate). Cutting to size was easy enough (score nicely with a sharp blade, then just fold over until it snaps). However, when you place it on the build platform, make sure you apply it from a corner or side and slowly roll the rest of the board (trying to avoid air bubbles getting under the surface). If your printer works that well, great! If you're having adhesion issues and have eliminated other areas as possible culprits, try a PEI film.
