Aids in pulling/laying IF YOU USE IT CORRECTLY

The Herm Springer Spiked Collar was recommended to me by a canine behaviorist for my foster dog who is very reactive on walks but has been fully booked for months. She recommended watching lots of YouTube videos (some recommended below) to make sure you find the right fit and use. It looks vicious and evil, but if installed and used properly, it will not harm your dog. Most of the horror stories you hear about spiked collars come from people who wear them all the time (they should only be used for training) or who don't fit or use them incorrectly. My dog is doing much better since he started using it. I used a soft leash that helped a little with the pull up/lunge but not much and my dog hated it. Get your dog used to it (how he should react) first in a few 10 minute sessions, then you can move him further on walks, starting with shorter walks in quieter areas. The point is to teach your dog to focus on you and your movements and where you want him to go next to you, not just pull at unwanted behavior. At some point you will no longer be able to use it and will only be able to walk with a collar or halter. We're not there yet, having only been using him for about a week, but even if we gently leash him, he's better at understanding how to walk "properly" on a leash. Use a notched collar, part 1" (has matching tips too), then look at part 2 (I couldn't find part 3). Tyler Muto "Launching the Dog with a Conversational Leash" would also be helpful.
