We used it on warm weekday evenings and nights instead of running the air conditioner. After some minor modifications to the case, it fits perfectly in my living room window and I just pull it out every day (it's not the prettiest thing in the world). But I also see how a window mount would work, lots of options. At low speed, it's about as loud as a fridge. But we usually keep it at an average level, and talking around the room isn't distracting unless you're sitting right next to it. And on average, the temperature throughout the house is the same as outside, so everything is fine. Smooth running at all speeds. I guess I got lucky and got a well balanced one.
