Air King 9155 Window 🌬️ Fan: Powerful 16-Inch Cooling Device in White Review

I have had two of these fans in the last 20 years. They are well made and last a very long time. My first lasted 12 years and worked most of the year all day for an exhaust fan. Eventually it gave up and I bought another one that did the same thing for 8 years. I have nothing negative to say about this fan.

On the plus side, it's relatively easy to install (tip: add foam to the side and bottom edges to make a pretty snazzy plastic mounting plate achieve.) and moves air very efficiently. On the other hand, there isn't enough difference between speeds and it's still quite noisy (with the gasket added) even at the lowest speed. Not something you'd want in a room watching videos or listening to music, and certainly not something you'd want in a bedroom unless you have very effective earbuds.

We used it on warm weekday evenings and nights instead of running the air conditioner. After some minor modifications to the case, it fits perfectly in my living room window and I just pull it out every day (it's not the prettiest thing in the world). But I also see how a window mount would work, lots of options. At low speed, it's about as loud as a fridge. But we usually keep it at an average level, and talking around the room isn't distracting unless you're sitting right next to it. And on…

I have 2 of these in the furthest away rooms. It pulls in cool air throughout the day, so it doesn't need AC power for a while. I got them because I didn't want to put a fan in the attic for the whole house. It was a simple setup. I have vertical ones, so 2 screws at the top and 2 at the bottom. Insert it, slide it closer to the wall and it snaps into place. Plug it in and voila, you have a powerful exhaust fan that can suck even at night. UPDATE JULY 2017: The fan died. I watched a few YouTube videos on how to fix this and ended up replacing the capacitor. It wasn't like that. then i oiled it (should have tried before) and it worked again - a few weeks. Now it's completely dead. I ended up ordering a new one from Revain with a guarantee and expecting it to die again in 2-3 years. I use this fan to keep my house cool without air conditioning. Bought two Air King window vents, models 9155 (16") and 9166 (20"). The 9166 is quiet and moves a lot of air, I love it! 9155 is very noisy, looks like a bad bearing. I worked out of town so I couldn't install my fans until I got home, which is after the 30 day return period. Revain refunded about 25% for my issues which was nice but then I had to deal with it under the Air King warranty.
