I have a 2 year old daughter and I love LeapFrog Products in general. Her old music box that helped her sleep eventually died after being used multiple times a day for 2.5 years. A fairy tale sidekick took the place of her music box and more. Now she has the opportunity to listen to music, poems or whole stories not only at night, but also during the day. She loves music and is even starting to learn some songs. Late night music works for her just as well as her old music box. She's not a big fan of poetry, but it's funny from time to time. The stories are awesome but by the time she's two years old she prefers to push buttons so they can never play at full strength unless I put the toy on a shelf she can't reach and cuddle her , until the story is not over . What suits me is the way I spend time with her. Battery life is great and there's a right level of noise for every situation. It gets loud enough to be used in crowded places, it can be very quiet. There are 30 different volume levels to choose from. Overall, this is a very versatile toy and offers so many possibilities. I think my daughter is a bit young to use it alone so I would say older kids would be better off using it alone. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great audio-only option for their young child.
