We do not have a fence or anything around the property for dogs to become entangled in. We only prevent accidents during games. Although my two animals don't do quick jabs in the collar during play, like a dog stuck in a fence or something like that trying to get free. A fence or crate accident is what you're trying to prevent, a stronger fastener might be what you want. As for me, I've taken both large and medium sized collars and dogs to the vet and asked their opinion on which one the safest is option for my situation SHE was comfortable with a large collar but understood when I wanted to go for a medium size. Also, I would recommend taking the collar and packing materials to the vet after purchase and letting them know about the availability of detachable dog collars. I had NO IDEA there was even one for dogs. Cats have had outbreaks for years, but she's never seen one in a dog. She took the packaging materials and has since decided to contact Petsafe to sell them at their office. At least she can teach her other customers now.
