Problem with Apple M1 mini

An adapter was used to connect the new Apple M1 mini to an old VGA monitor. There was a problem that sometimes the connection between the computer and the monitor was lost. To fix this you need to unplug the computer and then replace it. I've read that this is a fairly common problem that only affects newer Apple M1 computers, so I'm assuming the problem is with the computer and not the adapter.
