I have been using the Sunseed Vita Prima Parrot Blend for a long time. These are really good clean seeds. I previously bought one that had sunflower seeds in it. As several avian vets have pointed out, the tendency to stuff everything with thistle seed isn't particularly great. It is a bitter seed and very cheap. At least the leftover sunflower mix can be used as a supplement for many of our wild birds, but not the hard-shelled safflower. So when I saw that a new, healthier formula was being prepared, I thought it was worth it despite the long wait. My parrot looked up and asked WHY should I offer him lots of very small seeds and chunks of oatmeal when the new packaging indicated that this item was for larger birds? I explained that I would not repeat the mistake. I bought two bags of this material and waited a long time for it to arrive. I immediately bought another brand to start using and I hope my 25 year old parrot will probably get used to it. Even the old Vita Prima went up another 1/2, so Sunseed lost that customer. It's a shame it got off to such a good start many years ago.
