Review on GRK ProPak 605 Composite Screw Kit by Craig Mcdonald

Great Item in Screws

I have been using these for years and stock many sizes. I use them for making furniture/cabinets due to the size of the cutting head and they don't come off easily. I mainly use it to fasten decking boards. I usually pre-drill everything to better secure it. However, they hold very well and do not drill or "fungus" into the material surrounding the screw. I then hammer the material back into the screw hole to hide the screw even more. It amazes me that when after many years you need to loosen the screw to replace or repair the board, the torsion head is not corroded. Because it installs easily without stripping or slipping, the fastener head stays in place when the screwdriver is inserted. I blow out (some of) the dirt that filled the hole, but not all the dirt/debris is removed and they still cling to the removal. On higher decks, I fill the remaining holes with wood or plastic spatula. The holes are so small that they almost disappear when filled. Less noticeable, easier to install and less expensive than many composite screws.

Pros
  • Self Tapping Screws with TRIM Head; W cut thread design
Cons
  • No instructions
