"Comfortable, non-essential comfort "

My wife wanted this to keep up with the daily cleaning of our ground floor with tile or wooden floors. During the day she prepares the work for him. We have a relatively open floor plan and we try very hard not to leave anything on the floor. We don't have floor lamps, cables, curtains or carpets to get in the way. It's free to do that magic. It even works well around table and chair legs (it fits between any legs) and even works well around the perimeter. Where he could use some improvement now is in transitions. We have two transitions from wood to tiles in our kitchen. They have nothing extreme - a standard profile and low height. Little Booger actually climbs them like a champ but sometimes leaves a little dirt where he originally climbed. I'm not sure if the bumpy transition causes dirt or if it picks up the dirt it hasn't already vacuumed up and leaves behind when it picks up from the floor. Sometimes we have to quickly collect dust in these places (one star deducted for that). By the way, when I say dirt, I mean typical particles, crumbs, etc. that are on the floor of a house. Especially a house with a 5 year old (ie crumbs of the following: Goldfish crackers, Doritos, Cheez-it and various other crumb causing cookies, chips and snacks consumed by 5 year olds). Once in the kitchen, it even gets along well with cabinet legs. As for the noise level. Although we leave it running most of the time when no one is home, we sometimes leave it running when we are sleeping upstairs. Remember this is a vacuum so expect noise. But I would say that while it is relatively noisy, it is less noisy than a handheld vacuum. I'm really amazed at how it appears to cover the entire floor area, but don't expect this model to have a logical, systematic layout - it's not. The analytical person that I am has now understood this form of logic, albeit a strange one. We bought a mid-range i5 that uses a simpler form of navigation. It will run over the areas multiple times and take longer to complete its work. The higher level versions will actually do their runs in a systematic manner, literally making their way through the house. We didn't want or feel the need to spend more than $1,000 on a product like this. This one does the right job. Emptying the canister is pretty easy and it always returns to its station. I've read that some people think a robot vacuum isn't worth making sure the floor is clear of obstructions - use that to determine if it's right for you. There are a large number of models to choose from - you can spend several hours on the iRobot website (I suggest you choose the model that suits you best). All in all an unnecessary comfort, which seems to be worthwhile for a family of two. carpet-free area). I find that the lack of logical navigation and constant crossing over takes some of the run time. I'm actually a bit disappointed in its systemless routing. I know the higher end models use true logical mapping, but again, for us, that convenience isn't worth the higher price tag. I took off another star for the battery issue. A NOTICE. I purchased this item from Revain at full price and have no relationship with the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased, and insightful reviews because I read reviews before making my own purchasing decisions. I have found that many reviews lack useful information, are poorly written, or give poor reviews because they have not read the instructions, are inexperienced, or cannot read product information before purchasing. Writing valuable reviews helps pay in advance.
