Review on πŸ”’ The Ultimate MAHLE Original OC 485 Oil Filter for Unparalleled Engine Protection by Eric Dubreuil

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best if not the best oil filter manufacturers.

I've been buying Fram filters for my cars for decades. In the end I decided to see if I should keep buying them. Short answer: NO. In fact, most filters are just crappy quality. Seeing is believing and this video proves it: [.] Here is an even bigger comparison of 11 filters including Mahle. [.] The simple fact is that the filtering of dirt in an average Autozone or O'Reilly filter is significantly LESS than in a Mahler filter because they have LESS surface area. If you sometimes start changing the oil later than necessary, more filter area means less dirt circulating in your oil. To continue when your engine is cold you want the filter to hold the oil so when you start the engine the oil flows straight through it rather than taking seconds to fill it up before it sends the filtered oil to the engine. To do this, you need a reliable anti-siphon valve. Cheap filters have cheap filters, Mahle has a relatively high quality design. Now let's get to the price. Instead of spending $5 or $6 on Fram, I spend $8 on Mahle. Is my motor worth the extra $12/year? Easy question. Incidentally, Mahle is an OEM manufacturer of filters for Audi and other German brands.
