Some of these were installed by an electrician during a home renovation. Unfortunately, every time the power goes out, even for a moment, they turn off all their alarms, first carbon monoxide, then fire, all at ear level. There is nothing quite like walking around the house at 2am with the stairs in the dark. They have a mute button that should silence them, but not for long. The only way to stop this is to restore power or turn it off and remove the battery. When power is restored, it reports that an alarm has occurred. I understand that an alarm clock is supposed to wake people up, but that can damage your hearing. I had to find earplugs before I could deal with them and cure my migraines after I dealt with them. My ears are still ringing this morning.
