Annoying cable, flying base

phone works well, good price. Problems: 1) The cord gets tangled easily. This in turn causes 2) the very light base to fly off the table when you pick up the handset. I somehow cured it by duct tapeing another cord (from base to outlet) to the table, but it hurts and limits mobility. I also have the same phone, same brand, no problems. It is attached to the wall. Maybe it's a panacea.
