A few years ago I spontaneously bought a teardrop shaped Radio Shack upright vacuum that runs on two AA batteries. It turned out to be one of the best things I've ever bought: powerful for its size, durable, and perfect for picking up the fine dirt that builds up on desks without having to remove items for traditional cleaning. I couldn't find anyone else recently. So I bought this similar item hoping for the best, but it's nowhere near as good as the old Radio Shack model. Using the same two batteries, it generates far less suction and needs to be coaxed to pick up the smallest particles. It also omits the efficient and durable Radio Shack screen filter in the catch bay and uses a less durable, smaller and non-removable fabric filter directly on the engine intake. We can assume that this feature contributes to the weak suction power of this device. And as for the "crevice tool" extension that fits between the keys of a computer keyboard, it's beyond useless - it fits, but sucks so little that it can't remove a useful amount of dust. Expected Protection Perhaps I'm expecting too much from a vacuum that runs on two AA batteries. But I still have a competitor product that is going strong after a decade, which proves it wrong. I will be looking for a second Radio Shack desktop vacuum, they are still in production.
