Review on VEVOR Deck Post Base Powder Coated by Paul Powell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The product is excellent, but the tree is not.

Many reviews here complain that the bar mounts are not suitable - they are too small. These reviews are FALSE. Rack base prefect 3.5 x 3.5 - product is perfect as advertised. The pole feet don't fit because they're the wrong size, they don't fit because the wooden poles themselves aren't the perfect 3.5 x 3.5. The product measures exactly 3.5 x 3.5 inches. Good luck if you ever find a 4x4 lumber post that measures exactly 3.5x3.5, especially if it's pressure-treated (PT) lumber. I installed 10 of these rod bases and 10 PT 4x4 rods and had to cut each rod to the exact 3.5x3x5 size on the table saw. After that, the base of the racks will fit perfectly. I guarantee that 99 times out of 100 4x4 racks, a freshly purchased 4x4 rack will be larger than a molded 3.5x3.5 rack. And here's why: For those who don't know, wood is cut in its original form before being sawn to an exact and directed size suitable for use. The lumberyard calculates the raw materials. But a usable board (for any purpose needs to be cut/ripped and straightened to usable size. So "4x4" should be 3.5x3.5 after sawing. 2x4 is actually 1.5x3.5, 2x6 = 1.5x5 .5, 4x10 = 3.5 x9.5 In all cases, 1/4" is cut from each side to remove rough edges and straighten the board. This method is known as Four Sides Machining (aka: S4S ) is known. Even wood is not an exact measure of this point - it's still just totals These boards are sawn in sawmills - no precision saws, skids or quality control For construction purposes is 2 x 4 1.5 x 3.5 - actual board may be 1 .6 x 3.4 or 1.45 x 3.7 This is generally fine. But it is NOT suitable for craft work - the boards must be re-sawn on a precision table saw to ensure each board is as accurate as possible. For PT wood, after the board has passed S4S THEN chemicals will be there against poured into the boards in rot and termites (under high pressure). Because of this, boards should: A) stretch (making them larger than 3,x5x3,x5 again), B) bend or curve easily, C) weigh more, and D) stay "wet" much longer than standard raw boards If you are buying these bases to mount to deck or fence posts or any post that needs to be outside, buy PT wood to prevent the board from rotting in less than 2 years It also means that You'll have to cut each 4x4 rack on your own table saw to make sure the 'finished' result is exactly 3.5x3.5 If you do that then these mail databases will fit like a glove!
