If you look at similar calipers you will see that most of them have two markings, one for IN and one for OUT. Internal measurements. Completely inexplicable are ten divisions on the underside in the range from 0 to 9 mm. I have several sets of calipers but wanted something small for a shirt pocket. I think I can measure the tips from the outside with my calipers and then mark them, which should be pretty close. Do not buy them unless someone explains satisfactorily how to interpret the internal readings.
