Review on Reese Towpower 7018100 Black Canoe Loader by Rob Clark

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Carried an 80 lb canoe across Colorado and back with no problems.

I have read most of the bad reviews and will say that a charger is only as strong as the coupling it sits on. If the clutch has even a little play, this play will be increased by the length of this loader. I pulled the hitch on the hitch and had no wobble issues even on gravel mountain roads. I agree with those who said bungee cord is useless. Once the first end is on the loader, tie it down with a rope or ratchet strap before taking the other end and swinging it. Another point: wipe the surface of the stick with alcohol wipes before applying the stick to the foam wipes. A smooth powder coating should not stick. I also sealed the ends of the styrofoam with a couple wraps of duct tape so the wind wouldn't tear it off. This loader made it easy for this 63 year old to load an 80 lb canoe onto the roof of my truck. Now if only he would blow it into the water for me.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
