This thing works to evacuate air from an open bottle and minimize wine oxidation, keeping the wine fresh. Design, whether there is scientific evidence or not, I do not know. I've used this on about 4 bottles of wine now, it seems to confirm what the ad says. After about 5 days, the wine (both red and white) can still be drunk. Before I started this, my wine became my cooking wine after 3 days. I usually use up a bottle within 5-6 days, I will definitely use it because it works for me. I didn't give 5 stars because the pump only worked up to a certain point and stopped pumping air (there is a clicking sound when pumping). I think it would be better if more air could be pumped out.
