Review on πŸ’§ Enhance Water Clarity with Seachem Purigen Organic Filtration Resin by Theresa Simonsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow! Purigen is amazing!

I have a 55 gallon tank. I added mopani wood after soaking it for two weeks and boiling it twice. I figured the tannins wouldn't leach into the water because I assumed I had soaked/cooked it enough. I was so VERY wrong. Changing the water didn't do much for me (personally) with tanning agents. The water kept that ugly deep yellow/tea color. As soon as I put packs of Purigen (I tried one and it helped a little, I figured out what the heck and put three in my canister) into my ehiem canister filter, the water cleared instantly and my fish and plants are now thriving gorgeous. I refrained from adding another shot of mopani to my tank after the tannins got out of hand from the first shot. After the water cleared, I decided - what the heck/why not - and put another pre-soaked piece in my aquarium. With the new piece it gets a bit cloudy again, but not nearly as bad as with a piece of wood without purigen. I will try to clean/charge Purigen with the instructions. I will update if it is still as effective after cleaning. If it's not that effective I will buy more of these packs because they work wonders. You would think that such a great product would be outrageously expensive. I am very happy that it fits into my budget. Below I've posted side-by-side photos of my Purigen before and after. Post/clean photos taken three days after Purigen was made in my filter. You can clearly see the dramatic difference.
