Description of 💧 Enhance Water Clarity with Seachem Purigen Organic Filtration Resin

FILTRATION: Purigen ranges in color from almost white (cream) to light yellow. Seachem Purigen is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water. SELECTIVITY: Seachem Purigen is an organic filtration resin that works hard to remove nitrogenous compounds and waste produced by fish, corals, and even plants, making your water crystal clear. CAPACITY: Being both spherical and macroreticular, Seachem Purigen has microscopic pores that increase its usable surface area to many times that of a purely spherical resin. REGENERATION: Once Seachem’s Purigen is exhausted, it can be regenerated with a solution of bleach and water. The bleach will literally “burn off” the organics that have been removed from the tank. SAFETY: Some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of bleach/chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit. Age Range Description: All Stages.

Excellent material! for fish and aquatic animals

Simple and uncomplicated. I have several 100ml bags divided into 3 different reservoirs and they are all crystal clear. Bi-weekly water tests show that ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are consistently absent. It took me a while to believe that this stuff would work as well as everyone else has described, but then I finally took the plunge a few years ago. and tried it out in an aquarium, not to mention I was shocked at how effective Purigen is. After 120 days of testing in one aquarium, I…

No wet armpits! for Aquarium Test Kits

I love Purigen. I also love dry armpits. That means I've spent more money on water changing supplies that claim to keep my hands off my tanks than I'm willing to admit, even to strangers online. My fondness for dry pits leads to a strong desire to do whatever it takes to not change the water in my deep pools. Enter Purigen. I'm not a chemist. Chemists probably don't mind wet armpits. I have no idea what these tiny balls of resin actually do or what they are made of. But I can tell you that in…

Unbelievable! Best in Aquarium Test Kits

Unbelievable! I literally didn't think it would work. I have a 90 gallon aquarium with Oscar and (surprisingly) a few thorns and angels that he leaves alone. It has a homemade filtration system with two biological sponge filters and a mechanical filter that circulates the water about 7 times per hour. My ammonia and nitrite levels are literally unreadable, but my nitrates build up quickly. My aquarium turns slightly yellowish after a day or two and significantly yellower at the end of the week,

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • No Instructions

Seachem is a reliable brand and Purigen is a reliable product. I stayed on top of my daughter's tank (basically - relaxed a bit in my routine which worked) but due to recent difficulties keeping the fish alive (new additions) I've become more critical of my assessment. tank health. Nitrates rose, as did ammonia. I became more diligent about changing the water and became more critical of the health and biology of the filter. I went with Purigen, Matrix and a regular poly filter and what an…

Wow! Purigen is amazing!

I have a 55 gallon tank. I added mopani wood after soaking it for two weeks and boiling it twice. I figured the tannins wouldn't leach into the water because I assumed I had soaked/cooked it enough. I was so VERY wrong. Changing the water didn't do much for me (personally) with tanning agents. The water kept that ugly deep yellow/tea color. As soon as I put packs of Purigen (I tried one and it helped a little, I figured out what the heck and put three in my canister) into my ehiem canister…

24 hour miracle in a bag

I love this product! It does wonders for my tanks. I have two heavily fueled tanks. Yes, I did the last "no, no". I ordered Purigen in advance to have it on hand in case of need. Spring. Now is the time. Something went wrong with my 5 gallon tank and I lost 2 ghost shrimp and a measles cat within a few days. These deaths most likely caused the ammonia to rise and the rest of the fish felt it. One of my Mollys kept hitting the plants in the tank. I tested the water and the ammonia was in the…
