Very accurate for fish and aquatic animals

It's a little confusing how to set it up, but they are very helpful. So if you have any questions I recommend giving them a call and they will tell you how to set it up. Excellent test suite with very fast results.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Do Not Buy From Fish & Aquatic Pets

Unreliable. Compared to identical specimens sent to marine and marine life. The last two agreed, this company reported absolutely incredible values for some elements while others were far from ideal. I won't be using it again, spend a few bucks more and choose Ati or Marinefauna if you want accurate results.

  • Very Impressive

Great staff, very helpful

If you're not a scientist and don't know exactly what you're looking for, then this quiz isn't for you. I got my results and had no idea what all the ranges were supposed to be. Perhaps it would be more helpful if they gave you a marine aquarium chart to compare your results against.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Use ati or triton first if you can.

The test is faster than other icp tests. But that doesn't show much. I needed someone to compare my test to the triton icp. This is the test to use when you need quick results. This test should cost $10. He said my water was fine, but he showed numbers that said otherwise. But they don't use a standard formula. So unless you read a quiz like this all the time, this quiz is useless.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

No interpretation

Test works as intended. So I have no complaints about the actual process. My problem is the lack of interpretation. It's great that it tells me what level the levels are at, but what do I do with it. There is no help on the site to tell you if something is high or low what to do about it. Sorry I'm not a chemist. If you pass the Triton, it costs extra money to get the Triton's recommendations

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Wouldn't buy again - fish and aquatic animals

Good product but. they told me by email it was a processing error and then immediately sent me the results. It looked a bit suspicious (laughs) so I probably won't be going with those guys again. Made me feel like they just sent me other test results to shut me up. Just my 2 cents.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • old

Best value on ICP tests

This is what is listed. You will receive a test tube to fill with aquarium water. I sent it off on Monday and got the results on Friday. They will do a 33 element test and this will give you an idea that something is, or could be, wrong with your water quality. The price is better than the competitor but you don't get a fancy review. If you know the basics and just need levels and basically what an element can do (good or bad) then this is perfect and saves you $$$ on testing.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • So-so

Not useful - Tested with calibrated solution

Please note that none of the reviewers know if their results are correct. They just THINK they are. I created a calibration solution containing about ten different items to measure. This is easy if you know how to measure and dilute various chemical salts from larger stock solutions. I was able to verify that the levels of the elements in this solution were accurate (math guarantees accuracy anyway) using simple hobby test kits. Within a few weeks I sent three separate tests of this standard…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Available in white only

Fast accurate results

sample sent and got results in a week. It can detect any element down to 0.001 mg/L or 1 ppb. I tested my aquarium water for plant growth issues and the level of plant nutrients was close to what I was dosing with the absolute minimum macro and micronutrients. However, two of them were zero Mn and Cl. I don't know why, I suspect the bacteria in my tank are consuming them faster than usual. I added more Mn and Cl and the plant started growing again. If I hadn't used this test, I doubt I would…

Pros
  • trial period for one year
Cons
  • I won't say anything
