We live just outside of town. The nearest pet shop is 30 minutes away. With these strips I can test my aquarium water at home. They check a few things and are basic. You dip your wand in the water, wait a minute and match the color to the bottle. The bottle is simple, saves gas and time and is accurate.

This product tests seven different items and includes 100 test strips at a reasonable price ($10.38 at the time). These test strips work quickly and are a good water testing tool. I would like to know more about how to reduce certain elements like hardness, carbonates or nitrates. But this requires further research. This is a necessary product that will help my fish.

These test tapes work great but you only have 30 seconds to analyze all 7 test results. Even when well prepared, I find it difficult to do so with close reading. I think it's better to test twice: once to analyze the first 3-4 results, and the second time to analyze the last 3-4 results. If I don't do this the PH result below will be inaccurate as it gets darker and darker showing a higher PH than what is actually in my tank.

I purchased this product as a beginner before I knew about the master test kits. For my purposes it worked well measuring pH, nitrite and nitrate. The gH and kH measurements were somewhat inaccurate as they were much higher than they actually were (confirmed with the main test set). I would also like these strips to be tested for ammonia, but ammonia should be accurately measured anyway. They are great for beginners or people with simple aquariums with few fish. I test my water with two types of testers. A kit is a testing kit where water is added to the vial and then the liquid/powder is added, mixed and maintained. The second is these stripes. You are very accurate. I use fancy test kits to determine the exact amount when there is a problem, but they alert me to a problem. They are ideal for daily/biweekly use. I'm having a few issues with these strips, including stripping squares (as others have noted) and weird separate ratings for kH and alkalinity (which should be the same but different scales and different have readings from the same tank).
