They install with basic hand tools, they offer a stiffer ride but my shocks were 14 years old so that was a noticeable difference. Spray some penetrating oil on the screws and let it take effect. You will need a 22mm ratchet wrench and a 22mm striker bar. Wear safety goggles and a face shield as dirt will fall on you. Total time using hand tools was about 30 minutes, if I had used air tools it would have been a bit quicker.
