Review on πŸ”‹ Efficient Derwent Pencil Sharpener: Battery Operated Twin Hole Sharpener (Model 2302332) by Jennifer Roberts

WILL NOT WORK WITH DERWENT ROUND PENCILS, NO IMMEDIATE BREAKAGE

Absolutely not worth it. First, why make a branded pencil sharpener that doesn't match the brand of pencil it's supposedly intended for. The sizes are the same as each regular and large standard. But Derwent Inktense and Derwent Pastel Pencils are round. Unlike the traditional hexagonal pencil pattern that Derwent has also chosen for its watercolor pencils. The size is impractical as it barely fits in most pencil sharpeners unless you need a short pencil point. But since they arrive sharpened to a good point, one would think that this pencil sharpener from the same company would provide the artist with the same point. But it barely fits, and when it does, it's incredibly easy to pinch and then break. Not just a pencil. The sharpener itself is broken. It broke the first time I used it and I couldn't put it back together. I'm very good at putting things together, taking them apart and putting them back together, for some reason I couldn't fix this! Everything seemed to be in place, the batteries wouldn't go in properly, then the manual switch that is pressed when a pencil is inserted into one of the slots became unresponsive, preventing the pencil sharpener from turning on. It started when the tip of the pencil broke off into a smaller slot and I couldn't see it. Realizing what had happened, I unscrewed the razor and cleaned the very stuck pencil point, reattached it and nothing more.

Pros
  • Requires 4 AA batteries, not included; alkaline batteries recommended; do not use rechargeable batteries
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
