Very surprised that this expensive factory packaging air purifier was defective - the air quality control function (the main advantage of the air purifier) was not functional. To Shark's credit, the phone support was quick, but all the troubleshooting steps failed to resolve the issue. Also of concern is the lack of a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) rating for this device (as of July 2021). This means that no independent tests have been conducted to actually verify air filtration in cubic feet, making it impossible to compare the product to other air purifiers or to confirm the manufacturer's claim that this unit filters up to 1200 square feet. It turns out that the air sensor on this device is easily accessible by removing the cover on the back of the device, which is held in place with a single screw. Before sending the Revain unit back for a refund, I decided to do a quick inspection to make sure the air sensor hadn't come loose. Of course, I found that the data cable from the air purifier was disconnected from the air quality sensor. However, when I tried to reconnect the cable, I found that the data cable and air sensor connectors were completely different (i.e. physically incompatible - see image). The device arrived in perfect condition with no signs of damage. There are rattling parts, so I can only assume that someone at the shark factory: (i) forgot to install some sort of adapter needed to connect the device to the air sensor, or (ii) a completely incompatible air sensor installed and (iii) failed to perform even the most elementary quality control prior to shipment of the device. This appears to be a new air purifier on the market so I strongly advise people not to buy it until Shark has done its quality control and received independent CADR testing. Unit.
