575°F misleading, endless alarms

Even though it claims to read up to 572°F, this slow feedback thing gets stuck once it hits 300°F because it won't stop the alarm looping endlessly . This applies to "MEAT" and "MEAT ONLY" in software design. So if you're trying to check the temperature of, say, the oil in a deep fryer before you put the meat in it, or the oils while the meat is cooking, it's basically useless. Poking at the meat while it's fried is sloppy. (I use a cast iron skillet for frying most of the time, which I think is way better than regular deep fryers.) It has many customizable options for alarms. , but you can't go above 300°F on the high setting. You can even set up an "OTHER" mode that isn't a "MEAT" mode, but even in that mode you can't go above 300°F. It's incredible that you have the ability to measure 572°F in this thing, but the software is designed so you can't measure temperatures between 300°F and 572°F.

Pros
  • Set target temp for alarm
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
