I had high hopes for this case, despite its high price for a 2nd tier brand. It's shockingly light, almost featherweight -- just 1oz according to my scale. Few cases ring up that light so if that is your central priority then this one may be worth the price for you.But I was looking for a compromise of weight and protection and I just didn't feel my iPhone would survive a fall with this case. With a 3rd party glass protector installed on my iPhone mini there is functionally no protective lip on the case -- the lip is almost flush with the glass. In every instance I've damaged my phones it's involved me tripping on uneven sidewalk joints while holding my phone. (Yes, I'm a clumsy runner.) The phone drops face down on the sidewalk and it's always the lower corner that gets scratched and/or cracked. So a lip that can withstand that kind of fall is important to me and this Raptic fails that "what if" test for me.The aesthetics of the case are weird too. The metallic blue on the back is more garish that pictures portray. If the case were protective, I could live with it, because the weight of this case is terrific. But as-is, it's just another mark against. If I wanted light and barely protective I'd just not use a case.The feel of the plastic back was also a bit "icky." TPU and silicon used in most cases are not the most luxurious materials, true, but the plastic here just felt depressing given it's wrapping a $700+ phone, that naked feels amazing in the hands.The final blow to me is the price. Using a $30, essentially "no-name" brand case, offering few beneficial features would just make me question my judgment each time I looked at it. If the case offered real protection $30 would be a bargain. But I honestly can't justify why this case is worth $30. Based on the other cases I considered (and kept) the realistic price is more like $18.
