Review on Kodak 1960988 ScanMate I940 Scanner by Peter Hallett

My new computer is running Windows 8.1. My old flatbed scanner was not compatible with this version so I got this scanner as a replacement and am very happy with it. It's faster than my old scanner (and it captures both sides of the page in one go). Some say to reset the included software but that doesn't make sense to me. The software includes Smart Touch with an icon next to the clock in the system tray. Turn on the scanner, click this icon and it will list 9 functions to choose from. The great thing about this app is that all 9 features are fully customizable: name the feature whatever you want, choose the output document type and place the scanned output where you want. Just select Customize from the list. One option is black and white RTF. This is an OCR output that allows you to edit the document in any text editor. Mac version available. In my opinion, Smart Touch is the jewel of this pack.
