It took me years to pull the trigger and buy a weighted blanket. Now I'm wondering why I didn't do this many years ago! This blanket in particular is very pretty. I have nothing to compare but I'm satisfied. According to the label it's cotton and doesn't feel very soft, but nicer than percale. Because it's used with a washable duvet cover, cotton is more important for breathability than haptics. As with the duvet covers, the duvet has 8 firmly sewn loops for tying on the duvet, one in each corner and one in the middle of each side. The bedspread I bought from another manufacturer only had 6 ties but the loops worked fine when I put them on. The weight of the blanket is distributed as evenly as possible. The quilted squares at the very edges and corners of the quilt appear to contain fewer microbeads, but they still carry some weight. The quilted squares are even and sewn well, the beads seem to be holding up decently. The edge of the blanket is beautifully encased with reinforced fabric braid. The quilt appears to have a very light batting, just enough to give it structure and keep the quilt's beads from bunching up when shifted. We put a duvet on our bed a few days ago and replaced the heavy summer duvet. Both my husband and I felt that we slept better and woke up more rested. I usually wake up several times during the night to change position and I've found that this has decreased significantly since we put the duvet on the bed. I did find that the duvet is slightly warmer than the duvet it replaced, but not so much that I'm uncomfortable. I usually like the room to be really cold at night so I can wrap myself under the covers, so in the winter I see that as a positive thing. I think it would be difficult to use in warmer weather without air conditioning, although I think that's probably true of any weighted blanket. Bottom line, this blanket looks exactly like the product description, is well made and works as intended. If I needed a second duvet, I would always buy another one from the same brand.
