I have used all kinds of air conditioning detectors that smell like freon. With this he hears a leak (gives you the hearing of a dog). I can pick up leaks from 5 feet away and then move it towards it when it gets louder, closer to the leek. I removed 2 odor detectors for which I paid 450.00. and 2 which I paid 200.00 for. If I find a leak, I spray them with dish soap to see if there are any bubbles. Some leaks (1%) need to be detected with an odor detector or dishwashing liquid. but I would say this finds 99% of leaks in less than 3 minutes and with 130-140 pounds of air pressure. I restore the system and use air pressure to check. Now I'm buying a backup, but I can't do anything about it. I've been using the ones I've had for 6 years with no problems and I've dropped them a couple of times. I do car conditioning and 15-20 cars a day in the summer.
