I have used this product to remove stains from a Breville kettle and it works like a charm. The only reason I'm deducting 2 stars is because this product is way overpriced for what it actually contains. Read more below. This pack contains sodium percarbonate and sodium carbonate (both commercially available). If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, you can use it like I did and get the same results. Things to know: 1. The active ingredient in this product is sodium percarbonate (commercially available as OxiClean). You can even use hydrogen peroxide to clean your kettle and get the same results. But sodium percarbonate is cheaper.2. Sodium carbonate is used to provide a basic pH and is not essential. However, in an acidic environment, percarbonate quickly begins to decompose. By making the solution more alkaline, you give the percarbonate more time to break down the stain. I bought sodium carbonate and percarbonate in bulk and used them in place of this product. I can confirm that neither of these two chemicals will harm the kettle.
