Very good mount but the only thing is you can place it next to something like stacks or next to cable outlet, TV mount etc. Not far less than 4 inches, because once the metal bracket is in place, you have enough room to add a plastic overlay to the top and bottom. It doesn't snap directly into place, so just leave it at least 4 inches away from what you're installing. The arms will retract, but if you're a little over a foot and a half you may need to secure the extensions so they stop retracting as they near the end of their retraction. You could slip the rest of the way. There is no stopping them.
