Barely acceptable for calls, terrible for music or movies.

For the past seven years as a professional phone I have been using a Gemarc Ampli 500 with Sennheiser PC-230 headsets on 2.5mm Headset Buddy headphones 8-12 hours a day (unfortunately HB doesn't usually stop there more than a few months, but at least they exist because they have no competitors). While Sennheisers usually give in after 6-24 months of use, they offer the best possible sound quality on either side (particularly for calls, but they're not bad for movies and music either). Unfortunately they are out of production. This purchase was intended to explore possible replacement options. Build Quality: The best I've seen in this category. Both the headset and the cable feel solid and durable. Comfort: While I personally prefer open-back headphones (like Sennheiser), they don't bother me too much. However, they don't let your ears ventilate while you're on the phone. Luckily, the pressure is light and well distributed, and the ear cups block out quite a bit of outside noise too.) Sound Quality: This is where this fails me. There is too much bass and almost no high frequencies, perhaps because the bass suppresses them. This is BAD for phone users. However, the interlocutor never complained about not being able to hear me, which speaks for the excellent quality of the microphone. If you're not picky about the tonal balance, this device is a reasonably well-performing headset for phone calls. Although the device can be a good companion for a laptop or cell phone (3.5mm adapter cable included), the sound quality on an external device is terrible (I've tried it on a Samsung phone and on an HP Elitebook ), it sounds like a barrel noise. The product is definitely not suitable as a device for movies or music, unless you value sound quality. Noise Cancelling: The ear pads ensure good sound isolation. Microphone quality: People never complain about not being able to hear me during a call. Final Verdict: While I still haven't found anything if my last PC-230 finally dies, I returned the product because I just couldn't live with the sound quality.
