Review on πŸ“» Tram 1411 Broadband Discone/Scanner Base Antenna by Chris Cruz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A truly broadband multifunction antenna.

This is an interesting looking antenna, similar to an artist's interpretation of a comet made from a stainless steel rod. It's easy to assemble, but it takes a little time to tighten the many lock nuts. With a small weight or wind resistance, it can be used with a TV antenna. It is primarily intended as a receiving antenna that covers a very wide frequency range. However, it resonates on the 2m and 70cm Ham bands and seems to transfer quite well there. The antenna is advertised with CB power supply. The two radials are adjustable to tune to higher or lower channels. I made these elements as short as possible, hoping for 10m coverage. SWR 2 points: 1 were roughly in the middle of this range at 27.6 and 28.7MHz at 1:1, within the 10m range. It seems a bit small to work well there, but it promises more versatility than expected. The antenna has a reasonable price compared to other analogues, which makes it even more impressive.

Pros
  • Radio Antennas
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled
