I am not a professional auto technician but I have worked on a variety of cars and vans for many years. I have used several OBD2 scan tools including the original Xtool-D8. I found this tool to be the most useful (for my needs) in terms of feature set, portability, and functionality. What I like most about the D8-BT is its Bluetooth capability, which sets it apart from its cousin (D8) and most of its competitors in this price range. When ordering this updated Bluetooth model, my only concern was whether the Bluetooth version would perform at the same level in terms of speed and connectivity. I'm happy to report that I didn't experience any noticeable lag or connection issues. One of the reasons I decided to upgrade my previous scanners has to do with portability. Bluetooth does not require you to be tied to a traditional 16-pin diagnostic cable or another manufacturer's diagnostic cable to impede your movements in any way. For example, I had to change the transmission oil in a sealed Lexus transmission. As many know, this requires monitoring the temperature of the liquid. The convenience of portability just makes it extremely easy. You can put D8-BT under the car during the process. And yes, with the D8-BT you can control transmission temperature and more. This tool is not the cheapest among the high-end options available, but it is the most cost-effective in its price range in my opinion. It has all the features of the original (D8) plus the added convenience of Bluetooth.
