I wanted to be able to navigate with Google Maps while driving without having to look at the cup holder. That helped. Fairly strong magnets, work best with rubber/silicone cases unless you can position your phone directly with the magnet. Larger phones (like the Google Pixel 3xl) slide/spin without manipulation while driving, which can be annoying, but the magnet is strong enough to keep the phone from falling. Works perfectly with smaller phones like the Google Pixel 3. I love that it comes in a set of two so I can put one in each car without having to buy a second one.
