I'm leaving it in place and hoping I can just unscrew it or get it working for a few more months while the dogs adjust to their new home - and thankfully they're not used to just kicking doors open, because if there would be, these gates are not cut. But take my advice and keep the box as I can see I'm not the only reviewer noting the gate doesn't latch. However, if the manufacturer can help, I'll update this review later for a better assessment.
