Update September 17th: A reviewer complained that I don't think you need to verify the correct part to get the actual Monroe part to get. It's very similar to enthusiastically reviewing knee surgery for an implant, but having to operate again because the wrong size equipment was put in. I finally got the correct part of Monroe, the delay wasted a week of my time. Ordered spare parts for various cars. It's only fair to warn the prospective buyer about this part so they can save my heartache. I'm not sure if that's entirely fair, but part of the whole experience is getting the part right. It's crazy to take apart a piece of suspension only to find it doesn't fit, even when Revane says THIS PART FITS YOUR CAR. I can't find a KYB front mount for a 2008 Subaru Outback. For some reason this part is cryptic and the Subaru part is $75. I'll give an update on the new Monroe part if it works. I have 160,000 on a 2008 Outback and the rubber is starting to soften and crack which is quite reasonable for an 8 year old machine. If you're generally good at turning a wrench, Subaru forgives you for the job. The wage in North Carolina is $110 an hour. Some of this socket work can be worth the time. And for goodness sake, you don't need an air powered rock drill on a spring compressor. With your favorite ratchet, it takes 2-3 minutes.
