Great as a recoil cable!
I attached one end to our stake in the ground and the other end to our 25 foot straight line. So it works great. I would not recommend using it as a standalone tether for all of the previously listed reasons from other users. Due to the tension on the cord from the reels, it will most likely wrap around your dog's legs, but just keep an eye on it and it's usually fine. a collie puppy to lengthen the coiled cable so it slows down and doesn't snag like it would on a straight cable. He would run flat out to the end as he knew no bounds. Be careful, his collar broke at the buckle while we were chasing the bird so make sure your dog's collar is strong and only tie your dog when under supervision.
