When open all the bars were solid and looked great apart from the fact that they looked like painted chrome. I tried to separate a pole from the group by pulling it around the corner. The rod immediately broke in half. I decided to remove the rest. I managed to remove two more sticks but I couldn't get them far enough apart and they connected and broke. They were about 4 inches apart. They are not suited to anything that may be physically difficult. If they hit the bar wrong, the bar magnet will be destroyed. I don't see them as a cool box to store tools due to their sensitivity. I am very disappointed in these magnets. Now that I'm aware of their fragility, I need to find something very creative to use them. A big problem for things like charging ports on phones or other small metal charging ports found in most modern devices. Well, almost everything. Please look for something else that isn't as fragile for something that won't permanently attach to these magnets.
