Anyone who writes that the shackle is in the wrong position is trying to screw it onto the 3 o'clock mark on the bell. Me too at first. It goes slightly to the passenger side of the manifold at the 1 o'clock position. If you have minimal firewall clearance, like I have on my 1971 Nova, it will be difficult to get to the bellbolt. You need to remove the header for easier access. It's a real pain trying to get the screw back, but the strut lines up perfectly. I had to use rubber tubing to catch it from the bottom of the hole. Once the thread has started, you can access it with a long-handled 9/16-inch wrench.
