The installation instructions got me to the point where I needed tools normally only found in body shops. You have to partially disassemble your bumper and I didn't want to do that with my new truck. There are several videos on You Tube that talk about how hard it is to get certain bolts and such. So I sent it back and made an appointment with the dealer to have it installed. However, once it's on, it's pretty good. You should be able to lower it with your foot (e.g. if you have your hands full). But I found that until now I almost always had to stop and pull it down with my hands. Maybe this is a feature of the tundra? I've seen this step on other trucks and maybe it's easier to get your foot between the bumper and the step. However, it is easy to lift it with your foot. And it's very strong.
